Splitting money is already awkward. Doing it in a language you only half read makes it worse, especially when one wrong tap decides who owes whom. Half Tab, our bill splitter app for iPhone and iPad, is written in 21 languages, and so is this website, with guides written for each one.

How Half Tab picks its language

The first time you open Half Tab, it chooses a language from your phone’s region. If that is not the one you want, open the app’s settings and pick any of the 21 languages. You can change it again whenever you like. Amounts and dates follow the language you choose, so numbers look the way you are used to reading them.

The language belongs to your phone, not to the group. On a trip with friends from three countries, each person can read the app in their own language while everyone sees the same expenses, balances and payments.

One honest note: languages and currencies are separate. Each group has one currency, chosen when you create it, from 9: NPR, INR, USD, EUR, GBP, AED, AUD, JPY and QAR.

Below, each language has its own section with the phrase people search for, a word on how groups there tend to share costs, and links to the home page and the bill splitter guide in that language.
